Gosford Open Prize Meeting 2018
Report: Bob Smith

Despite the ominous weather forecasts, and a huge storm the evening before, Gosford’s OPM this year was well attended by 53 competitors. Only a few spits of rain fell on the day and the overcast conditions provided excellent light for shooting. Some exceptional scores were recorded, two Target Rifle shooters, Alex Davies and Pat Jacombs shot perfect scores in Match 2.
All three matches were fired at 500 metres, under cover, on the large astro-turf mound. A big thanks to the competitors, some who travelled long distances to attend, our club is grateful for their support.
David Morton from Port Macquarie won the event, without dropping a shot over the three matches, closely followed by Alex Davies from West Wallsend.
Range medals were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each category (1st only for TR ‘C’ and F/TR), Aggregate Cloth Badges: 1st – 5th for TR ‘A’, ‘B’, 1st only for ‘C’
1st – 5th for F-Class A, B & Open. 1st & 2nd for F/TR

Our HEXTA Electronic Target System once again proved to be accurate and reliable. Thank you, Dmitri and Ted for this excellent system.
The canteen staff kept all the shooters and supporters well fed with delicious scotch fillet steak sandwiches and snag rolls, perfect for a cool day. A great job by Stuart, Joan, Greg, Bob and Mark.
Our thanks to Ted and Karen who worked continuously on Statistics, Gail, Anne, Linda and Joan on Entries and Mark, our tireless Range Officer. A special thanks to all the volunteers, both members and visitors who helped to set-up and pack-up on Saturday and Sunday, this event would not be possible without your assistance.
We are also grateful to our sponsors. Without their generous support we would not have had the wide range of quality prizes on offer.
