AUSTRALIA DAY SHOOT - HORNSBY 2017
Eleven of our members attended the Inaugural Australia Day Shoot at Hornsby Range. Ted Boreham spent the day in Stats, meticulously scrutinising scorecards against the ever-reliable HEXTA results. The rest of us enjoyed a great day on the range. Despite early forecasts of scorching temperatures, The weather on the day was perfect, the overcast sky, which threatened rain but produced none, gave us even light all day. Top Marks to North Shore District who put this event together at very short notice due to the cancellation of the Festival of Sydney Shoot. A great effort by all those who assisted. The lunch was great, Lamb Rolls and Pavlova, what more could you ask for on Australia Day!Grant Roberts (TR 'B') won first place in Match 2 and Adrian Hall (F Std 'A') took out second place in Match 3.

DISTRICT RIFLE ASSOCIATION TEAMS MATCH AND CITY vs COUNTRY MATCH
Several Gosford members represented North Shore District in the DRA Teams and City vs Country matches on the 2nd and 3rd of July and fared very well against some strong competition.
The DRA teams match was held at Anzac Rifle Range and both North Shore DRA Teams (F/Std and F/O) were outright winners on the day. The F/std team beat the competition by one point thanks to captain Gary Faulkner with the only F calss double possible over the 10 and 15 shot match with a 60.9 and a 90.6. Despite tricky conditions Alan Seaman’s ability to read the fluctuating wind during the day on both ranges was impressive as he hadn’t been to Malabar for 12 months.
F/O under the captaincy of Phil De la Rue, had a win with high scores and possibles being recorded by many shooters, along with Michael Singleton coaching the team to a convincing win.
Sunday saw the City Vs Country F/Std shoot won by country with a 12 point margin. Although some good shooting by City wasn’t enough to beat the more experienced team despite the efforts of some excellent coaching from Alan, we were out-gunned on the day.
F/O had no worries with Phil De la Rue and Michael Singleton steering their team to a convincing win, with Michael top scoring on the day.
All in all it was a good result by both teams with a good representation of Gosford shooters comprising of Alan Seaman, F/std coach, Michael Singleton, F/O coach/shooter, Rick Singleton F/std, Ian Elliott F/O, Terry Howell F/Std. A special thanks to Phil and Gary for their captaincy & Chris Rigby, although injured, scored for both teams on the day.
Nine club members attended the Wingham two-day Open Prize Meeting on the long weekend. As usual, the Wingham Club worked very hard to put on another great shoot, with near perfect weather. Grant Roberts won badges for a First and two Third placing's in TRB. In F Open, Anne Smith won badges for a First and Second, Mariette Rigby for two Seconds, Ian Elliot for a Third placing and Third in the Daily Aggregate and John Slack for a Third placing - Full results HERE!
Report by Terry Howell
Last Sunday 24th July saw the return of the Josephson shoot held at Hornsby range with two NSDRA teams competing against a strong field. Gosford showed it strength once again with six F/std shooters taking up positions in two teams. The shoot was held over four ranges 300/400/500/600 meters and again our team led by Gary Faulkner (Roseville) were triumphant with decisive wins over the competition. The strong winds of the previous day had subsided in comparison but still making wind reading difficult with the changing conditions throughout the day. Many shooters scored possibles on all ranges with some high centre counts to finish 17 points ahead thanks to Alan Seaman who help keep us on target with some precise scope adjustments. All in all another good representation of our club with Alan Seaman (Team Coach) Rick Singleton, Terry Howell. Alan Seaman and Anne Smith emerged prize winners, Alan made a clean sweep of FTR, winning each of the ranges and the Aggregate. Anne Smith, shooting F Open, took out second place on two of the ranges and third in the Aggregate.
Sporting Clays Shotgun Shoot

Chris came second in C Grade, Dale was third in C Grade and Darren was third in B Grade.Greg Fletcher and Steve Davis shot well for their first time in a shotgun match and Bob needs more practice.

W.S. Josephson Memorial Teams Match
Hornsby 19th July 2015
Report by Alan Seaman
NSDRA FS Team beat Metropolitan by 3 or 4 points, but that should have been 6 more as we lost a shot on the wrong target, despite the coach saying Tgt 5, “go on”every shot!!! Garry Faulkner was top FS shooter, but Rick Singleton must have been close behind… I coached both but didn’t get the actual scores. Rick’s .223 is as good as any rifle on the range over these shorter distances.
Len Brown was shooting well but his scores were “down” until changing to one of Garry F’s rifles for the last two ranges. The Team’s result may have been different if he hadn’t changed rifles.
It was a good experience for us all, the shooters enjoying being coached even in the very light conditions.
Our TR Team shot creditably, but was pipped by a few points by Hunter Valley DRA Team – Duncan Davies carding 200.31. Tim shot well, but you have to be shooting very well to beat Duncan.

Tim came in seventh overall in Target Rifle against some great shooters, Duncan Davies (West Wallsend) shot 50.10 twice during the competition.
